IPS Seminar on MicroNano Fiber Devices and Application in fiber sensing and modelockedfiber laser1/15/2019 Micro/nano fiber devices have attracted increasing research interests due to the low-loss characteristic as silica wave guides, small diameter and large evanescent field in recent years. This talk will first introduce the microfiber Fabry-Perot interferometer (MFPI) for simultaneous measurement of refractive index and temperature, which is fabricated by applying the flame
brushing technique at the center part of FBG. In addition, a microfiber-based saturable absorber (SA) is fabricated by optically depositing the few-layer tungsten disulfide (WS2) nanosheets onto microfiber. Owing to the optic evanescent field interaction with WS2, a passively modelocked fiber laser is developed for the observation of soliton molecules. Furthermore, mode-locked fiber lasers based on different mode-locking mechanisms are studied, which both enriches our understanding of the dynamics of optical solitons and paves potential application
